Fuji TRVSG size 6 - Alternatives?

Looking for alternatives to the Fuji TRVSG size 6 stripper guide. Alternatives meaning slightly elevated (high frame) smaller guide ring size stripper for medium-extra heavy baitcasting rods primarily for bass fishing builds. My go to has been the Fuji LKW Corrosion Control/Alconite Double Foot Mid-Weight Casting Guide in size 8.

I like the high frame TRVSG, but seems like only available in titanium??

I was under the impression that all RV guides are titanium.

I've been using a KW10 to a KW 5.5 followed by a few KB's and then the rest KT's on the last few casting rods I've built, and it works great. Especially if you're using heavier fluorocarbon lines. It's more the height of the butt guide that's important versus the size of the guide ring when it comes to stiffer lines.

If you're using braid or lighter fluorocarbons or nylon mono's that aren't as stiff, the shorter RV works just fine.

Kigan ZDHCG-5-H they make good guides seen on some upper end rods over the years, Hydra rods is the dealer I have worked with, they also have some nice blanks they build for bass out of SC. AXL Rods is tied to them, same town, same address.

I've got some of the TRV guides but I think they are 5.5's. I don't care for them, you're welcome to them. Also have quite a few of the high framed Kigans. There's a couple of different heights. I could send you one of each to see how you like them. Also 5.5s I believe. Shoot me a PM.

Which guides do you like better than the RV6 for a butt guide on casting? I think the RV style only comes in a size 6.

Then they must me 6's. I only thought 5.5's because those are the size runners I use most of the time. I just use KW's 8's or 10's (usually 8's).

They work just fine, I just don't like how they look. I don't really see any difference in the RV or KW in terms of casting or anything.

I do use the Kigan's from time to time but mostly because I have a lot of them from broken rods I've bought from ALX. They work just fine too.

I think casting rods probably give a bit more flexibility on guid
options too. Setup does not seem a particular as spinning rods.

I did order a few from VooDoo in the black titanium to try out. I'm curious to test them against the LKW 8's I typically use. I'm a little on your side when it comes to aesthetics... doesn't make a nice smooth gradual transition, more abrupt from the butt guide to the next one.

Remember 4.0 and 3.5 mm tip to butt guide trains on top have been done for maybe 13+ years, Bobby Feazel passed away, but he owned Shockwave Rods, I cast one of his crankbait sticks, they could bomb a line out there.

For those using the RV butt guide, what spacing are you using from the reel face? Standard ~19-21 inches?

Yes. I use 20" as a starting point.

My RV's came in.... man, I might be adopting these into my future builds. The black titanium blends in very nicely with dark gray alconites. Casts beautifully, RV to 5.5KB to 5.0KB to 4.5KT's on a NFC C602 MB725

Theyre great and my go to. Not that I think it hurts anything, but you dont need to step down in sizes lile that.

The RV6 straight to 4.5mm guides (kt/kb doesnt make a difference) is fine. I go to 4.0mm on my acid wrapped bfs builds even with no problem and awesome casting distance.

Appreciate the feedback. For most of my builds I tend to gradually reduce down in size using two guides simply for aesthetics.

Makes sense. Why make your own rods if you cant make them how you want and whats appealing to you?
