Just had a Bill Dance moment...

I just had a Bill Dance style blooper happen this last weekend... Hook came out of the fish and got my hat!

I'd love to hear some of your funny fishing moments!

Not nearly as funny, but the first moment that comes to mind is when we set the hook, momentarily snag the fish and then it comes zooming back to the boat, wrapping the line around our legs, the front pedestal, the trolling motor and several other items on the front deck. That’s an awkward moment or two while we try to figure out how to get untangled. Kind of hard to steer the boat when your legs are hog-tied.

Haha that's good! At least nobody got hooked. I'm happy that it got my hat and not my ear or something.

Years ago had a partner get a one ounce jig hung on a branch and he tight lined it and it came flying back and caught him right in the plums
the sounds he made didn't seem possible and once he sat up the look on his face was priceless
I tried my best not to laugh but couldn't help it

Way back when I was in high school my Dad and I were fishing for schooling bass on Barnett. We both were throwing popping corks with a floating jig about 3 feet behind the cork. We would wait for a school to surface and start attacking the shad and we'd both cast to the school. We were catching fish like crazy while the schools were up then we'd be on the lookout for the next school to surface.

The school we were fishing went down then resurfaced a pretty good ways away. before Dad could get to within casting distance of that school I decided I'd just rare back and see if I could reach the school. I rared back for the cast of my life and when I launched my popping cork and jig towards the school the rod felt pretty heavy. As I was 3/4 ways through my cast of a lifetime I see something shooting through the air like a missile along with my cork. Then it dawned on me, the jig behind my popping cork had hooked the tip on one of my Dads rods and it too was in flight towards the school of fish. My lure and Dads rod and reel splashed down and the jig hook came out of the eye. Dad trolled over to where the rod landed. That's when we found out a Lews Speed Stick would float tip up. We were only in 5 feet of water so finding t he rod was pretty easy. Miss my Dad.
There's lots of decaffeinated brands that are just as tasty as the real thing.

    Hi Mike.

I remember my first hookset and fish with Spiderwire braid many years ago when it first came out. Lake Jordan, fishing a rat in the weeds, I set the hook on a 12" fish and that thing came flying at my head like a baseball. I bout fell out of the boat ducking, it landed well on the other side. Lesson learned.

Haha looks like hats are the most popular thing to accidentally hook

i was fishing with a friend who was casting a jerk bait he was facing away from me and went to cast and stuck the bait right in the top of my head, when the bait didn't cast forward without thinking why it didn't cast he reached back and tried to cast it again now i am yelling his name to stop he did the same thing 4 timed while i am yelling his name to stop and with each attempted cast my head was bobbing like a bobble head doll he then turns around and in a angry voice says what do you want and then sees his bait in the top of my head, and says oh shit, i said to him you tried to cast 4 times what made you think when it didn't cast out the first time that it would the next three times, he says i don't know what did you think when i kept yelling at you, he says i wondered why you were so loud yelling at me
