2024 CX21 what props are best?

    Good morning all,
I’ve recently traded for a 2024 CX 21, 250 pro xs with a 10” Bobs jackplate. It came with 24p fury, I’ve ran a 22p and fury 4 23p. The fury 4 performed best so far but I’m only getting 5700rpm on merc monitor around 64-65mph. Had an atlas, not used to the bobs yet. I’m big guy that carries full tournament load. Looking for suggestions on what others are running/different props. Thought about maybe a bravo or trying a tempest 23p that I have.

Cbrake, I have been running a fury 24 and not really satisfied with it. My top speed so far is 66mph @ 6000 rpm. The fury gives very little bow lift so I have switched to a Tempest+ 23 that has been worked by Croxton. I have not run it yet but I will this weekend. I'll let you know what it feels like.

I ran several props on my CX21. I think best overall prop for performance was the 25.5” bravo fs. I never really got to dial in the top end speed but I hit 69mph easily on several occasions. Hole shot was good and the mid range was amazing.

My CX21 came with a 24 Fury as well. It was a dog for me. I'm also a large fella and add a passenger and gear and it was hard to get that boat going with that prop for me. Ran a 23 Fury but still wasn't satisfied. Switched to a 23 Razor XL 4 blade from Mark Croxton and it has been great. 66-69 with fantastic holeshot lugging my fat butt around. Easy to drive as well and no chine. Highly recommend for overall performance.

Second the Razor XL 4 blade. Huge difference in hole shot and drivability.

I have a contrary opinion, but it is based on a lot of experience. I have a 24 fury on my boat currently, but the best prop I have used is a worked 24 tempest. I have tried the bravo up above and a bigger one, 23-25p Furys and Tempests. I haven't used the Razor XL, but I suspect I would have the same problem with it as I did the Bravo...

The four blade props lifted the rear of the boat too high (I have lithiums, maybe not so bad with lead acid/agm) and lowered the bow. The boat wasn't as fast as a three blade but I still hit 70, was more fuel efficient, and more stable with little or no chine walk. In mild bad weather I could even go a little faster than with my three blade because I could more easily "skip" waves and stay on top of them. This sounds all great until I got in really bad weather on the Columbia River. I lost too much bow control/lift with the four blade that I couldn't walk down a wave and keep the bow high enough to clear the next no matter how slow I went. The waves were big and far apart and that doesn't happen often, but I prefer to have the prop that can get me out of a bad spot. The tempest is also the fastest, so for me that is a win-win. It is load sensitive (lots of crap in the bow will slow you down more than with the 4 blades) and chine walks more, but both aren't an issue for me.

Did you run your tempest with any plugs in? I tried my older 23p tempest with 2 medium plugs in and holeshot was ok, but had better nose lift than any fury than I’ve tried, but it did seem weight sensitive. I’m going to try without the plugs soon.

Yes, but unfortunately I can't remember the exact configuration off the top of my head. I am pretty sure one hole was open and I had two plugs with holes in them of some kind. I need to get that prop fixed and redialed in.

CBrake, I finally got to run my boat with the worked 23 Tempest. Have 3 medium vent plugs in and the hole shot was great and I had more bow lift as well. Unfortunately it was way too windy to get a good WOT speed. I come out of the hole with the Jack plate on 3 and the trim at 2 degrees. I also do not carry a lot of extra junk in the boat. All jigs and plastics in the box behind drivers seat. Crankbaits, spinner baits and chatter baits in middle locker

I'm also running a Croxton worked 24P Tempest Plus. It's been the best overall prop for my CX21. Three large vent plugs.

I run the 24.5 bravo1 FS. Had 2 deg wedges I never installed until last week...
2021 CX21 dual console, Merc 250 4s, th hydraulic plate, ghost, 16 hds live on front, 4 agm batts total. 70% fuel, 2 guys (400lbs)
Running at sea level. Boat went from 69 mph to 71.4
Ran out of trim before... not with wedges. I know it will turn a 25.5 bravo fs, ordering soon. I run at 1000 ft and 1500 ft elevation reservoirs a lot, so 24.5 should be good for those.
There may be faster props for this setup, but bravo fs holeshot, mid accel, and even top end are great.

Thank you all, this is good info. I did notice myself running out of trim. This is a first for me on any boat. The 2*wedges are something I should consider.

I have the wedges on my CX21. They definitely help and don't hinder the holeshot.

I assume the wedges are mounted thicker part at the top, so the motor tucks more. Or are you all inverting them thicker part on the bottom?
