What few gators I've seen on my FFS were really hard to spot if they are just laying on the bottom but if they are swimming you can see them pretty good.

i got one good shot of a gator on the bottom on my FFS, but i only knew it was there cause i somehow snagged it.

No gators up here but I watch loons diving and they are alot smaller than a gator is

I am vacationing in Florida and hired a guide to fish Okeechobee. We fished the Kissimmee River and saw plenty of gators. I cannot imagine fishing for them.
I don't know about seeing them in forward mode, but you certainly can see them in Perspective.
