If you are like me and don’t use or even know how ffs works and don’t want to know and you just love the way it was pre ffs, just use YouTube as a Time Machine. Watch tournaments prior to 2019. I just finished watching the elite at Toledo bend from 2016. Got my fix and I am ready to hit the water Saturday and just fish shallow throwing moving baits and flipping cypress trees. My take on ffs is it’s just a cost thing for me… if had the disposable cash to buy the setup, I’d buy it and learn it…. I’d also want a new $4k trolling motor but I’m just not spending 8 thousand dollars on a trolling motor and fish finder…. If I fished competitively, it would be a different story as that’s a tool needed to compete…. But, I rarely fish more than about 5 feet deep and my fish are usually there no matter what.. Just gotta make them bite…. High tide, they’re behind the grass patches or cruising inside the “cuts” in the bank..(we call them a trenasse or ditch or cut or just drain). Low tide, they’re on the outside edges of anything… Slack tide, no current, good luck.. try to flip the grass edges and pick up 1 here, 1 there..
back on topic…. This is exactly how my ole stepdad is…. Refuses to accept or acknowledge technology.. he just says he doesn’t know how to check bank accounts online, or check email… I’ve had to sit down and get all his bills setup to be sent as a paper bill since mom passed… you have no idea how hard it is this day and age to make people understand, “listen dude, or ma’am, you HAVE to send him a PAPER BILL if you want him to pay you money.. you can email him 45 times a day, every minute, he is not reading emails or checking accounts online”..
and honestly, it’s not that he can’t… he won’t.. will not try to learn… just like most folks complaining about ffs… they won’t try…

If professionals who's careers depend on catching fish use FFS then that's what I'm using. Might be too simple of a philosophy but makes sense to me.
Good luck catching up shallow. Since ffs started all the bass moved off shore and suspend
