Looking for reliable boat mechanic around Davie county

Haven’t had a need for one in a while, but every now and then something pops up beyond my comfort level. Who around this area do y’all trust working on your boat?
My boats a 1997 Triton with a 1999 Mercury 225EFI hanging off the back of it.

There is a great merc mechanic at Rock Outdoors.

Best one around is at rock outdoors. Have delt with d&e multiple times over the years as have several other that I know but I would set it on fire before I took anything to them again. Rock outdoors is the best thing to ever happen to this area.

Tyler at wide open used to be at rock outdoors but I will still stand by my statement d&e is the best especially on the older motors

D&E, is good. If you get him to work on it. He only wants newer stuff

Rock outdoors sucks for repairs. Highest pricing and longest waits.

Lot's of conflicting opinions in this thread...

I don't mind paying for good service and the best shops will make it right when there is a problem. Sometimes that's the bigger, more expensive shops and sometimes that's the shade tree mechanic who doesn't charge as much. When my boat needs service later this year, I'll be looking at one of these or another around the Raleigh/Durham area.

Already talked with Tyler at Wide Open. Taking the boat to him second week of May. I’ll see where we go from there. He seems to shy away from the heavier maintenance, so if he doesn’t want to tackle something, we’ll see who he recommends. D&E isn’t far from him.

Went to Wide Open Marine this morning. Tyler hooked me up with swapping out the seals and bleeding the steering cylinder. He’s got a nice setup there and was great to meet and chat with him.
Definitely will be going back in the future if anything above my capability to do on my own….. He also has the ability to bench check your injectors if you’re in need of that. I’ll be heading back this fall/winter to have mine done…..

I wouldn’t take mine to anywhere but rock outdoors and I would set it on fire before I even entertained the idea of taking it to d and e.

I am sure the folks at D&E don't miss your business. I feel the problem may be you .

I’ve heard both good and bad about D&E, like with most shops I guess. Rock Outdoors seems to be the one folks mention most often though. Curious if anyone’s tried Performance Marine recently?

Imagine that, a davidson county resident making a limp brained comment on the interwebs. Who would have thought it?

I've had 4 experiences with D and E and friends/family have had many more........90% of them have been really bad. I've had 4 experiences with rock outdoors and all have been stellar.

Well to start with i have dealt with D&E for 30 + years and all good. Now all of your comments about Davidson county is getting a little old. You come on here running your mouth but are too big of a coward to put your name in your profile.

Good for you, I'm happy for you. One person's experience differs from another. Someone needs some preparation H. You just proved my whole point.
