    2 Solix 12 issues

I have 2 Solix 12’s at the bow and 1 at the console. For some reason, if I am getting on plane trimming engine, the unit will turn off. It will immediately powered back up upon turning unit on. If I raise or lower jackplate it doesn’t seem to occur. What could cause this? Also, I have 1 unit at the bow that is strictly for mapping and sonar and the other strictly for Humminbird 360. Both are on a 100AMP lithium battery. The mapping unit always reads 1volt lower than other unit and after 2 hours of fishing, will give me a low voltage reading. What could this be? To add, boat has been re- wired with 8 or 10 gauge wire. Boat has been re-wired 3 years ago. Units are 3 years old. This has been a problem about a year.I’m about to stop tournament fishing and take up basket weaving.

You have symptoms of poor electrical connections--loose or corroded or both.

Yep, I agree. I would check all your connections, butt crimps, ring terminals, etc. Especially, on the connections where the larger 8 or 10 awg wire is connected to the much smaller Solix power cord leads. Often oversized butt connectors are used and the crimp on the smaller awg leads is not tight.

I would start with the power wire connections from the lower voltage reading unit. When are up on high speed plane there are high frequency vibrations (like micro wave frequency) which will give the connections a test. It might just be the sensor giving you a lower reading, but you have to start somewhere. Some pulling or wiggling connections while lookin to see if the unit goes off when doing it. If anything shows, replace the connection. Good Luck, intermittent things can be tough to find. Bob

The unit at the console is the one that seems cut off only when trimming while running. Unit tends to stay on if I don’t trim with blinker switch. It seems as if the trim switch is causing it to power off. Just a strange coincidence.

The trim motor is pulling more amps than the battery can support using the console unit's power connection. The trim switch doesn't use any power, just transfers 12V power to the up and down solenoids. You have to fix the voltage loss (resistance) you have for the console unit.
