    First round of the season

My wife had her second teacher certification test this morning so I took a day off and we decided to have a “fun day” with our 2yo daughter.

after her test, we went to the Zoo and our daughter was ecstatic. Once we took her out of the car she was telling us to “shhhh we spot animals” at each exhibit she would find the animal, point to it and tell us to look even when they’re right at the fence..

afterwards we went to our local 9 hole course (one of the oldest courses in the state, formed in 1930s). Man I sucked today, shot an honest +16 over 9 holes.. the first 4 drives were some of the best I’ve ever hit, not the farthest but went right where I wanted them to. On the 3rd hole I put a ball 5ft from the pin at 130yds out. After the 4th tee shot, the wheels fell off.. tee shots with the driver sliced bad and only would go 150yds, iron shots were either topped or too deep under.. on friday I went to the range and my iron shots were great complete opposite from today haha. Got halfway through the 8th hole and I realized I was hitting my irons the same way as my driver. Changed and my shots went back to being good. Hole 9 shots were great, hit a wedge 25yds out and ball stopped 1ft from the pin.

my wife ended up beating me by 1 stroke. She can’t hit far by any means, but she hit the ball very clean today, some of the best shots she’s ever done. We have lessons scheduled for her on the 31st, I have a feeling after that single lesson she will consistently be ahead of me

Hate to tell ya this, but it’s about consistency, which means practice. Let us know if you ever score better than your wife!

oh ya I’m still very much a beginner.. essentially got into it last year and played 17 rounds, and about the same amount of times at the range. Still learning and trying to figure out what works best for me (positions of hands/feet, swing types, etc) haha.

Fun hobby for the two of us to enjoy. Our girl likes riding around and doing her best to “help”. We’ve learned to keep an extra ball in our pocket for when she goes on the green to retrieve our ball thinking she’s helping us she tries to take a few putts so it’ll be cool to see her get into it too

Sounds like it might be getting time for a lesson or two. Most ranges offer package deals and if have have a level of consistency, good or bad, at some point a little help goes a long way. Couple years ago I recognized my putting was poor, I’d drain a 10’ footer one hole, next hole hit it 5 feet past, then the next be 3’ short. 3 lessons and have been much better, basically got rid of 3-4 3 putts a round.
