Rate of Fall Based on Weight

I’m trying to dial in my sense of rate of fall this year. I’d like to know how long you guys wait for different sized weights to fall on a slack line. I know that there’s a couple different factors that go into how fast different things fall but I’m not trying to overthink it. Just trying to get a general sense of how many seconds on average I should be waiting when I cast something out so that I can either maintain it steadily in that specific part of the water column or when I should expect it to hit bottom. I listed some techniques I’m trying this out with below (without electronics):

    - Midstrolling heads 1/8-1/4oz
    - Finesse swimbait heads 1/8-1/4oz
    - Dropshot weights 3/16-3/8oz
    - Jigs 1/4-1/2oz
    - Texas Rigs 3/16-1oz

Figuring out when the bottom contact baits hit the bottom is pretty simple I just wait for the line to slack out as I’m watching it fall. This is more for deeper water applications where I’m counting the bait down. Wanted to see your guy’s thought process as well.

Measure out 10' of line, close the bail and hold the bait at the top of the water, release the bait and count down how many seconds it takes for the line to become tight. Then you'll know how many seconds it takes to fall to whatever depth you want it at.
