    Cam Pickup Point

J225Stleud. I just replaced the 2-piece throttle cam roller since it came apart with an aftermarket 432639 solid piece of plastic from ebay. After adjusting the throttle stop screw in (CW) several turns to get .005 clearance between cam follower and throttle cam. The throttle cam mark is no longer aligned with the cam follower. Using service manual for my engine. Is this correct?

You adjust that from the timing linkage not that bolt. If the timing linkage has the lock nut and screw (metal) that is how you adjust the idle timing. Consult your service manual for the link n sync procedure in Chapter 1. A good starting point it approx 1" from the plastic end to the bottom of the adjustment screw.

I followed the below procedure (cam pickup point): I adjusted the throttle arm stop screw (red arrow) CW per instructions. I'll have to put that stop screw back where it was. Or is the lync and sync the only way to achieve .005? Then follow the below throttle plate synchronization instructions. Will the idle timing linkage you mentioned adjust the cam follower and throttle cam to .005? Where is the idle timing linkage? and how to find 1" from the plastic end to the bottom of the adjustment screw.

Thanks for your help like to keep this old dinosaur running as long as possible.

Here's a diagram to help me point out the screws that need adjusting.
