1997 Mercury 200 EFI Cracked Engine Oil Tank Cap

    Serial Number- OG570955

So I have replaced the cap/sensor with OEM but the front half of my engine is an oily mess. I have spent 4 hours cleaning it with rags but am not sure about using a degreaser or some other cleaner. I am sure the 2-stroke oil in not the best thing for hoses and the insulation on the wiring but I don't want to damage anything with the wrong degreaser. Any recommendations on using a specific cleaner or whether just using rags is enough? Thanks

I've used brake clean before and haven't had any issues. It dries and doesn't leave a film.
