Prop Turning to a Gold and then a Bronze Color on 2019 Pro XS 225 Four Stroke

My fishing buddy has a 225 that a couple of years ago the stanless steal prop turned to a light gold color. Some type of electrical current must have caused it. The only explanation at the time was that he must have encountered some type of current from a boathouse that electroplated it. I fished with him last week and the prop seemed a deeper shade of gold. He told me today that it had turned a bronze color since then.
That should mean that the electrical current is coming from the motor or his accessories?
Anyone ever had this problem and what could be the cause?

Is the boat stored on a trailer or on a boat lift in a covered dock. If on the dock there could also be stray currents (dangerous) in the water from the dock electrical supply.

No it's not stored on a boat lift. Stays on a trailer in shed.

Could also be something on ANOTHER vessel thats transferring material from that vessel to his.

HEAT can also contribute, as can improper accessory or grounding in the boat wiring, units that tie the cranking battery together in an array with trolling batteries, etc.

If you would, please take a moment to review the Forum Announcements, and be sure to provide the Required Info (serial number). Thanks!

I have seen my exhaust pipes close to the engine on my Harley turn slightly gold. I concur with Don that is could be heat related.

I appreciate your input and suspected that it was a wiring or grounding problem within the boat because it happened over time and the boat is not really exposed to other boats very long.
Sorry for not providing serial numbers but it isn't my boat and I don't have them right off. I am trying to help a friend

A friend had a jump start switch installed in the bilge. Ground was hooked up wrong. Did that to his prop

+1... Battery switches need to be on the POSITIVE side of the circuit (if the ground side is interrupted while in the water it can cause this).
