    Oh the aggravation! HDS/AT2

It has been working great….several trips to the lake. This morning, I followed the usual routine and powered up the motor/boat, then powered up the Sea clear harness. Turned on all four of the HDS Lives….then I get the “no source” on the 12 running the AT2. All day….no source. I tried every 12 in the boat, they all worked great on everything but all said “no source” for AT2. I get home, take off the BBT rack holding the front graphs so I can get to the AT2 module. I turn on all the batteries and all the graphs….AT2 working like it never skipped a beat!

anyone have this experience? Anyone have a suggestion for the next time this happens? I did disconnect everything and reconnect everything. Hoping it was maybe just a loose cable.

I did take the opportunity to bring the Ghost software up to date. It was the only thing I had t had a chance to bring up to date.

I learned the hard way a long time ago to mount my AT boxes and 3DSS box where I can see the lights. Eventually stuff happens on boat wiring and if you can't see the LEDs on the boxes you are shooting in the dark. I suspect in your case that the power or ground wiring to the box may have been losing contact, especially with the box mounted under a bow panel since the bow gets the most vibration from wave impact; second most likely situation is that one of your ethernet cables is acting up. Also make sure every unit and AT box are operating on the same software version.

Why not mount the box in a rod locker or under your console where the lights can be observed. When problems occur the first step is to look at the power light. Good luck.

Yeh. I have the AT box in the starboard rod locker on my skeeter. The Ranger was “rigged” for me. I found it under the bow plate….loosely zip tied to the center rod tubes. I am not a fan of the mounting methods. I may have to epoxy some starboard in there and mount it so it doesn’t bounce down the highway and across the lake.

    SteezMacQueen,
My dealer installed my AT1 in the same place/way. I get it is convenient, but I was never comfortable with it under there. Even though my always showed a source I swear it would overheat in the middle of the day and the screen would fade. When I upgraded to a AT2, I went ahead and followed Marc's install video this winter. I also upgraded my SeaClear harness connections. So far so good.
