Drove it like you stole it...

... a common phrase on here. But I do have one question for the guru's, remember the only dumb question is the question not asked.

We can't drive 'em like we stole 'em around here too much, our lakes are just too dang small. In most cases I start the engine, warm it up run WOT for 2 minutes or less, fish all day and go back. On average I may only put on 12 to 20 hours a year of running time with 1/4 of that or so at idle. For me it will be the 3 year service and never the 300 hour service . My question, am I not running the engine hard enough or for what it was designed? Could I be causing a condition to which I may have to pay extra attention? Just curious on your input.

OK Mark, I can't help it, forgive me. Can you drive it in circles? Large diameter wide open throttle circles? Sorry. Actually if you get it up to operating temp, run good oil and de-carb periodically, it sound to me like your engine will outlast the boys that stole 'em.

No problem, I have heard nearly everything....I think. In these parts a big lake is 5 miles long and on most we see all four shores at all times when in the boat fishing. Lots of rocks and shoals etc as well. That being said, our fishing is phenomenal, up to 100 bass every day you go fishing. Don't get too big though. 5.63 is current provincial record and I had a 5.59 the other week, came close!

Hey Mark exactly where are you freshwater fishing in the Province? I get to Halifax quite a bit, in fact I work for a wood products company and we have a mill in East River/Chester so I stay at the Oak Island Resort when I am there. I love it in Nova Scotia, you have the most beautiful natural resources and the rugged coastline is an amazing sight. I enjoy every visit I have ever made there and look forward to my next.
As for the question of where you fish, I guess all I have ever seen is the coast area and the rivers as they enter into the ocean/bays. I see on the maps there are a number of lakes inland from Bridgewater, I bet they are an amazing sight. I would be interested in hearing more about your fishing, take care.

Would that be the Canexel (spelling) plant on exit 7 just off of the 103?

I live about 15 minutes from Oak Island and in this area, Lunenburg Co, we have some of the best bass fishing in Nova Scotia. Everything is all smallmouth and tournaments are won with 10 to 13 lbs for five fish. I would say that within 20 to 30 minutes of Oak Island there are about 10 to 15 decent bass lakes with several really good ones as for numbers and size.

With some advance warning I could arrange a trip some evening on a local lake with you. I believe the province has a 1 day license available now so it could be arranged. We'd go to a lake where at least the boat could get on plane .

That's it Mark, Canexel siding mill off of 103 at East River - LP Building Products. I appreciate your offer and if another trip presents itself I will ping you. It would be a blast to see your fishing grounds and hook up on a NS Smallmouth. Thanks again.

That is tough. I love to fish but I love to run the boat as well. Today I ran 97 miles gps to my favorite pike hole. About 60 gallons gas round trip but I have to run a jet. Here is a pic of a fishing trip last week.

Love the picture! I have been to the Canadian Rockies before and well, few things compare as it is very picturesque out there.

I fish in the neighboring province where you can run up to 60 miles one way on a dammed river but that is usually just once or twice a year.
