My son is wanting a pool table and I found a beautiful OLhausen on market place. My only concern is it’s a 7’ table. Anyone bought a 7’ and wish they went with an 8’ instead? Thanks in advance

Make sure you have room to put it in.

Nothing wrong with a 7’, though I’d get a diamond in a bar table.
Most common sizes are 9’ and 7’. Most bars are 7’, and around here it is almost all 7’.
Learning on a 8’ or 9’ will usually make you a better player, but some big table players struggle going to a bar table due to less room to move ball around.
Whether you get a table or not try playing the online Miniclip 8-ball pool game. Pretty realistic of the actual game.
I have an 8' Olhausen Belmont and like it a lot. It's set up really well. Diamond tables are the rage right now, and they make good tables. It just depends on your room size. see above post from dixie-raven.

Get an 8ft or a 9ft regulation. Olhausen makes a great table. When you install the table, get Simonis Cloth and Aramith balls.
when he gets good on that setup, EVERYTHING else will be a cakewalk with only minor getting comfortable with cheap, slow cloth and pockets bigger than a DD Bass’s mouth!
I have a Valley coin op bar table an love it. Not room really for anything larger.
If professionals who's careers depend on catching fish use FFS then that's what I'm using. Might be too simple of a philosophy but makes sense to me.
Room for que ball on the rail shot. Or get some half sticks.
Check marketplace, probably plenty of people giving tables away.

Get at least an 8' table. Bar tables are 7' regulation is 9' so if you buy an 8' you will have less adjustment to either a smaller or larger table. Keep in mind, you are going to need to budget for an additional $1500-2k to cover moving, recovering, any rails that need to be fixed and re-assemble. Find a very good table mechanic in your area and either 1) See if they have any used tables which will likely be a little more but they know what to look for or 2) Have them come look at what you are buying and get a quote for getting it into your house and set up correctly.

I’ve got a coin operated one. It’s got a sheet over it and a sheet of plywood. Covered in fishing and hunting stuff. Well, I assume it’s still under there.
Hang on. I'll help you in 77 minutes.
Thanks for all the info. I found a nice Connelly San Carlos with new rails and is being delivered and professionally set up.
Never heard of those before.
Congrats. Connelly makes some great tables.
I would prefer an 8’ for my personal use, but most of the local places have 7’.

Learned something new today….did not know pool tables came in different sizes. Played as a kid at my buddies house, we all stunk and just hit the ball as hard as we could. Probably been 50 years.
Either 7 or 9 but id prefer a full slate diamond
