    Livewell Controls Confusing me.

I have a 2003 520 DVX. The livewill switches in the push button panel are as follows (see attached picture) Aerator Pumps 1 and 2. Aerator Timer H, M, and L. The manual switch is Recirc, empty, auto. This is new to me and has we confused as to the exact functions.

    If I understand:
Recirc just recycles live well water and outside water is blocked.
Auto recycles and fills from outside water except when on plane.
Aerator Timer is simple H=most frequent aeration and L=least often aeration.
Aerator Pumps 1 & 2 is confusing. Is it just a backup system? Are there two pumps?
Empty lets it drain out through the fill transom intake?

Where does overflow drain the water to?
    Is there a pump out?

    Thanks,
    Ron

    Ron,
lets cover the livewell control valve:
Recirc: Blocks water from entering or leaving the livewell. Traps what water is in the livewell in there.
Empty: It will empty (or fill) as the boat moves. it will fill up as the water attempts to equalize with outside level
auto: Allows water to be pumped in, but not escape except though overflow tube.

For the pumps 1 & 2: You have two livwell pumps, and this controls them manually either on or off from this switch

When you hit the H M L switch, that is high, medium, or low for the timer to turn the pumps on or off. Hit this switch first if you wish to use the timer. Hit the other switch if you wish to use the manual mode.

You may have a pump out. look into the livewell on the starboard side and see if you have a red nozzle. if you do, lightly pull it out to pump out. Push it back in to have the nozzle move water

You have 2 pumps, always on for both of them. One exits into the starboard side high, and one port side low. The starboard one turns into a pump out as indicated above.

For auto, you hit the auto switch, and that will turn the pumps on or off automatically vice manual when you hit the button marked pumps 1 and 2

    that get ya????

    Ron,
lets cover the livewell control valve:
Empty: It will empty (or fill) as the boat moves. it will fill up as the water attempts to equalize with outside level
A flapper should block inflows of water in the EMPTY position. As mentioned, when its old and leaks, waters equalize with the lake level. Flappers are inexpensive to repair.

Thanks Carlos that helps. Only other question is why are there 3 pump out holes on the back side of the boat? When I used the pump out feature it only pumps out of one of those.

The other two are for your bilge pumps................One for the automatic and one for the manual pump........................RR

So if i am understanding correctly, if you want to use the timer for livewell operation then there are two steps and are performed in the following order: Step 1 is to press the timer switch repeatedly until the timer setting is highlighted that is wanted (H, M, or L). Then the 2nd step is to press the switch that is labeled "aerator pumps" to activate the pumps and therefore operates the aerators on the timed cycle selected in Step 1.

If using only on manual mode, then just need to press the "aerator pumps" switch to activate the pumps.

You guys are the best. That should straighten me out. Now I need to test all the different functions to make sure all the pumps and timers are working. I will look for that pump out. Thanks.

Correct. On my 2001 the order of switches pressed is not important. You can turn the Aerator pumps on and then hit the timer and the timer will work.

I hardly use the timer, I usually just run the pumps continuously with the valve set at auto. I may switch to recirc if I have added livewell juice (please release me or G-Juice). I do also use the recirc when approaching the ramp area to preserve the cooler water in the livewell.

There is no "auto switch". Look at the provided pics. I have the same panel. There's an auto position on the valve but no switch.

I'm wondering if I need to turn the aerator pumps on in addition to the L M H Aerator timer switch.

I think this resurrection might set a record. After 8 years, hopefully the OP has figured out his livewell controls.
