    Livewell pump replacement

Noticed a little water getting in my bilge so started checking. No leaks from livewell. Filled bilge with about 8” of water and found that the drain plug fixture was dripping between the base that goes against the fiberglass. Removed and cleaned. I am using 3M 4200 for that. Since it was right next to the drain I decided I was going to replace the livewell pump. It is the original. Twenty years old. I am curious if I should just use a high grade silicone for it since 4200 might be a problem if I ever need to replace again . I noticed that the original silicone was stuck very nicely and I doubt it would ever leak. What say bbc?

Silicone certainly best for removal. It’s what I would do.
