I don't know anything about Force motors but, that looks like a rectifier, don't think its supposed to look like that, does the battery stay charged and the tach work?

I did find out what it is. It's the voltage regulator. Not sure if it stays charged or not. We just got it yesterday. The tach does work. But not sure if it's right or not. Because when it reads 1500 it sounds like it's around 800. Thanks

If that is bad your tach will be squirrely and you will notice on your volt meter (assuming you have one) that your motor is not charging the battery. I had one go bad on a 1993 Force 150. Cost around $100.

    Good Luck!!

Some Force outboards have a 10 pole alternator and need a tach that has a 10 pole setting on the selector switch. That could be why a regular 6 pole tach is reading too high on a Force.

The volt meter doesn't work. But the tack stays steady.
