First of all, Thanks so much for all the hard work that Mike Allen, Brad Koehler and Rob Shaw have done in organizing this event. This is for a great cause and it really means a lot to Abby and I as we try to adjust to Steven's loss.
Most of you never had the privilege of knowing Steven, but one of his greatest qualities was his compassion and concern for everyone else around him. All through his illness he always asked how everyone else was doing and never compalined about the cards he was dealt.
After undergoing two brain surgeries, monoclonal therapy (radioactive isotopes), radiation and 3 years of experimental chemo, he maintained his concern for others. He never gave up and completed his Masters degree in Engineering and got married during all his treatments.
That being said, I may be speaking out of turn, but I am bothered by the discussion below where people are worried about what their boat number will be. I think some of us are losing sight of what the purpose of this tournament is. It is to honor the memory of Steven and Jack and show support for anyone else who needs it. It is to share our comradery and gather together and raise money to support something that will help others in the future.
I have FULL confidence in Rob, Brad and Mike and am forever grateful for such great friends. They are the type of people that Steven would have been proud to know. However they decide to determine blast-off order will be fine.
