My livewell has not worked since I got the boat, the wiring was all bad etc.
I have found this:
Black wire == ground ?
Brown wire with black stripe (will call this brown/black) == aer 1
Brown wire == aer 2
I had to cut and strip the wires because I could not find them near the dash and all the wiring had been removed anway.
When touching to a battery these are my results.
Black on negative terminal; brown positive terminal == a pump runs
Black negative terminal; brown/black positive terminal == nothing happens at all
brown/black negative terminal; brown positive terminal == a pump runs
Anyone have any idea what any of this means?
Here is a picture of the wires.
I would say you probably have a bad pump at the end of the brown/black wire. Each of the pumps also has a black wire. Try and determine that they are tied together and that is the single black wire you have. Otherwise, there is a missing black wire. Can you post a picture of the switches, front and back with the wires attached? Also, if there is a timer, can of post a picture of it?
What year and model is your boat? You might put out a request for anyone that might have a manual to take pictures of the wiring diagrams.
First thank you for replying.
2nd the wiring is shot, right now i was just touching wires straight to the battery.
There is in fact two black wires piggy-backed together.
It may be time to get a livewell kit from tinyboat nation or something similar...
