Got a carb. question.

The model number is J115TSLECM not sure on the serial number.

the motor is a 1998 johnson 115, when i start it before i take off it sounds like it back fires in the carb. and shuts off, but when i get it running it will run until i turn it off and it takes me a few mins to get it started again, it does that back fire thing. Could it be that the carb. needs to be cleaned out? or what could cause it to be doing that?

Don't let it snort too much or you will be replacing a reed cage. Pull that carb and inspect it.
