    New trailer tires

All I've ever ran on my boat trailers are Marithons. I noticed on my last trip coming home from Amistad that my left side tire was bulging out on the slightest bounce. I know that means the side wall is giving out. I went by Discount Tire this morning and scheduled an appointment for 8:00am thursday morning for 3 new Carlisles ST205/75R14. They were $94 each. Hope I like the Carlisles. Also getting the wheels bearing redone and hopefully the lower unit and new plugs. Martha wants to take a trip next week. Probably be Amistad but I told her I would take her to any lake she wanted to go to.

    Re: New trailer tires (Skip)

Johnny Stoker told me that Goodyear has a problem with the Marathons coming apart. Something about a bad batch. I'm going to need some new tires before too long so keep me informed on the Carlisles.

    Re: (WB)

I've ran Marathons sense back in the early '80's, only had one blowout. That was a few years back. It seems though that reciently the Marathons are having problems so I am going to change. I'll try the Carlisles.

It's called Made in China ... If you can find some American or Canadian made ones, they are probably OK.

Been running Carlisles for years on my boat and pop-up and have never had an issue. Put a set on my 210 trailer after having 3 Marathons come apart on me in April last year. Just make sure you have them aired up to max psi (for the speeds we drive in TX) and you should get good service out of them. Maxxis also makes a good trailer tire.

Re: New trailer tires (Tx Champ)

Beein running Carlisles EEVRYTIME I need new ones.

Marathons coming from import factory are garbage! I have already added the spare into my four tire line up due to this "Bulging" BS

I now have the new spare on and I noticed the same thing and it still has the damn glue on the letters on the sidewalls. Been out twice for a total of about 300 miles round trip

Local dealer told me all trailer tires are made in China. That says it all.

    Re: New trailer tires (Jav400SDC)

I agree with you move Skip and did the same thing on the Champ. I don't think marathons are what they used to be and the Carlisles sure seemed fine to me.
I like using Discount Tire because you can get warranty service almost anywhere.
