    Prop Hub going out???? 1999 johnson 200 24 raker on a 1991 champion 191dc

So I'm running down the lake at around 5600 rpm. I'm watching the rpm's and every once in a while the rpm's jump up to about 6200 rpm, for a few seconds then it will settle back in to 5600ish rpm's. My speed doesn't change, and I can't hear any difference in the motor.

Is the hub on the prop going out? or Is there any kind of electrical problem that could be causing the tach to show this reading? Maybe the tach is screwing up,

Any information anybody has on this would be appreciated.

Check your battery connections first. If you have wing nuts replace them with stainless steel hex nuts with lock washers or stainless nylon insert nuts. Torque them down to 15 ft lbs. Usually when a hub goes out it goes out! And it usually happens at hole shot time not cruising along. If you have a volt meter on the dash watch that when the tach jumps up and see if you have a voltage change also. Could be your regulator/rectifier getting ready to go south on you. Check and tighten all the engine grounds too.
