Best Lake for catching Double Digit Bass?

I just came back from fishing the MLF Invitational on Sam Rayburn in Texas and it left me craving a battle with a Big Bass. I thought Texas was the big bass capital of the world but i didn’t see that first hand. Just curious if anyone would be willing to share their thoughts on bodies of water known for Big Bass?? I may need to make a trip!

I suppose it can happen anywhere, that it doesn't live up to expectations on weeklong trip, but living up north, if I were making a bucket list trip to make it happen, it would have to start in Texas.

There are numerous lakes in texas for a DD, but its not as easy as you think. Lake fork, toledo bend, rayburn, amistad, Ovie, etc. People think you just show up on your first trip first day and guaranteed a DD. It doesn't work like that. I know cali has a good bit of big deep lakes for giant DD's, but there are people that specifically hunt for those. Its different fishing for those 15+lbers usually. With all that said you can always get lucky.

Seems like you can just throw a dart at a map of Texas and go fish whatever lake your dart hits for a chance at a 10lber. Chance being the key word there though.

Texas, California, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and Alabama all have good opportunities to break into the double digits.

This is pretty accurate. You can catch a double digit in more public lakes here than yiu can't. Usually the reason why they don't get caught is angler error. The are there, we just dail to catch them.

What hurts more than that is having 2 DDs on and both getting off. One of them I'm convinced would've been a new lake record.

My ex tournament partner spent 8 winters in Florida in Astor at the southern end of lake George. He mainly fished the small lakes off of the st johns river south of astor. He did nothing more differnt then flipping a zoom medium brush hog. He caught 2 ten pounders randomly and then caught 2 nine pounders the same day in an ABA open. The 2 nines came off the spot an Elite event was won from a year or 2 after his tournament. My buddy found the spot on his own and fished the area often after he caught a 10 a few years prior to the ABA event.

I was down there for a week with him and we fished Rodman. I saw some meat hunters with 2 over 10 on a stringer to the side of the boat. I hooked into something that if it was a bass was easily 10.

Yes Sir! I’ve got a few DDs from there, but typically it takes a ton of hours to pull that off. Just wondering if there are higher percentage places in our great nation. Thanks for responding!
