    Question for gearcaseman ?

    Good morning Mr.Pope,
I have taken apart my lower unit on a 1998 FICHT 175 FTLECS.
I did buy a pinion nut wrench,I did not buy the pinion nut starting tool.Is it possible to get the pinion nut started without that tool,or am I in for a struggle without it ?
I have not attempted to put it back together yet.I will be starting together with it this afternoon.
    Thanks for your time!

I'm not Gearcaseman, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once.

Use one of those super long needle nose pliers to position the nut onto the threaded driveshaft.

    Hi SEAHORSE,
Thanks for the reply,I dont have those either.I'm going to try to grease it on the wrench,or stick it on a paint stir or something creative like that.
If that all fails I go to Harbor Freight in the morning, they have a store close by.
    Thanks for your time!

You could use the open end side of your wrench and use some tape to hold it on. I don't have SeaHorse's money so I can only stay at an Econolodge.

    Good one Seahorse
Leave Gearcasman alone, he is busy trying to get my nut off. LOL. That is my pinion nut, it was so chewed up I have no idea how he is going to get it off.
