I got to get back to work

Since my buddy WB wrote such a fine description of his day on the lake, I thought I'd one up him and give you a run down of my last 6 days. Back to work tomorrow night.

My billfold and my body are suffering. This 7 day off stretch has been a humdinger.

Started out with the road trip to ERCOT and I took in a Rangers Minor League ballgame in Round Rock. Ticket, parking, t-shirts, and 6 dollar beers. (bout $90)

Began moving and rearranging the sheds. Solid labor most all day ever day.
Visits to Lowes, Home Depot, Wal Mart, local lumber yard for storage shelves, pegboard and various hardware and lumber. (bout $275)

A day of re-plumbing in the cozy & HOT 8x8 well house due to a busted pipe. ($30)

Harbor Freight hydraulic motorcycle lift, $500 lift, had a coupon for $299 and a better front wheel chock to mount on the Chinese pos. ($380)

Specs for a fresh jug of JD and Mudslide for the coffee. ($60)

Items for the scooter came in the mail. 12" muffler, exhaust bracket, fuel filter, JD points cover , factory service and parts manuals. (bout $250)

At some point the ole Shovelhead decided to start puking gas all over the floor out the overflow vent on the carb. I knew I had some rust in the tanks and suspected trash on the needle / seat or a float problem. After further review the rubber gasket on the fuel petcock shit the bed. OFF was not off. Decided to buy a high dollar petcock, don't want gas leak problems on anything between my legs. Removed the petcock and the screen in the tank was a crusted mess of rust particles Figger I better take the carb apart and sure enough the bowl was full of crap too. Now I gotta pull the gas tanks off & figger out how to get the rust out the tanks before I put the new parts on.

I will mention that large quantities of 16oz Bush Light cans went to their grave during this stretch and the sheds are shaping up nicely.

you should say something nice ever now and then like i do. You really have no input on my "days" since you wake up only to recognize ever day as Saturday

Pour a good mess of BB's in the tank and shake the chit out of it until the rust quits coming out. You gotta work it real hard, like Chance on JoeBoo. You made me tired reading all that work.

Yes sir, but I know your day is coming for that day on the lake. Keep up the good work Troy and least you got something to show for your hard work.

Get a hand full of pee gravel and wash them good. Put in tank and shake the crap out of it. Do this till all rust flakes are gone. Wash tank out with kerosene. Go to eastwood.com and get a por-15 fuel tank sealer kit. Coat the inside of the tank good. Or may be time for a new tank.

Re: I got to get back to work (Kevin R.)

I've heard of putting in a couple handfuls of nuts and bolts or a length of chain, kerosene and the shake it til you can't deal. Even wrapping in towels and blankets and put in the clothes dryer, no heat. One feller said he knew somebody who jacked up the rear end of his 4 wheeler and strapped the tanks to his tires and let er rip

Re: I got to get back to work (Stompy)

Cork, you are alot like me. I am not one to sit on my azz, I enjoy working on my boat, house, yard and truck. That is one reason I don't have a new boat. I spend most every afternoon tinkering with something. I sit in an office five days a week. My afternoons keep me somewhat in shape. It sounds as if you had a good time on yer days off. I am afraid if I was Stomp and had that ranch, I would work myself to death. I am to darn tight to pay someone to do something it right when I can do a halfazz job for free.

Hey,,I do the work myself, you ought to know by now that I hate to spend money. Except for putting up the new fence I had done, and some dozer work. That was almost 2 miles of fence, the equipment I would have had to buy would have cost me bout what they charged.

I use to do a lot around here but over the past 2 years I've got a lot done. Unless I'm doing tractor work, I can usually get my chores done on the average in about 4 hours. But, that includes most Saturdays and Sundays too.

Re: I got to get back to work (JD#5)

Papadeaux's was GONE!!!!! Only thing standing is the sign. Obviously they never rebuilt it after hurricane Ike

We went to Landrys instead and had a TWELVE dollar appetizer and we both had Mahi Mahi with the $7.50 toppings of course. Tracey chose the Pontchartrain topping and had a topping with similar cream sauce with scallops, grilled shrimp and lump crab meat.
Make a rabbit hug a hound

Tells you how much we get out. I just assumed Papadeauxs was still there since I see the sign when go across the Kemah bridge on the way to T Bend.

I held and fed the grand daughter and she chit her pants wide awake.

    Now it's time for a strong Jack & 7.

    LIFE IS GOOD
