Talked to an old timer that was here during the drought back in the fifties. He said it's worse this year because even though they didn't receive much rain back then, it was not this hot.
No relief in sight, even though my cows and pasture are ok for now, a lot of ranchers around me are selling off due to tanks drying up, no hay and pastures eat down to the dirt. I see cattle trailers EVERY DAY going by the house picking up cattle to take to the sale barn. I was in the local feed store yesterday and it was a sad sight. Hard core grown men ranchers with their heads hung low and some about to tears talking about losing their herds...Very Sad...
On top of all this, Hubbard Creek Lake will be about 14' low about the end of next week. It was about that low for 10 years and filled up 3 years ago. Now it's back to what it was. 14' low might not seem to be a lot but it's not a very deep lake...
