    Smith Mountain Lake lunker

A 9.62 lb. largemouth was weighed in at Saturday's Bass Cast tournament on Smith Mountain Lake. The team that caught it also took a 6 lb. fish shortly before the big one, both on a big swim bait.
Was History Made on Smith Mountain Lake as Angler Aaron Scott Catches Giant 9.62lb LM Bass?

What a thrill that had to be and caught shortly before the weigh in on a truly challenging day with wind gusts of 35 mph.

Great fish any day. Very rewarding when conditions are tough. I am sure a lot of big swim baits will be purchased soon

The problem with buying a big swim bait is when you then need to buy a rod and reel to cast that sucker!

I found that out the hard way. But being the slower learner that I am, started a glide habit collection too, along with associated gear….

My kid is living in Lynchburg right now. He doesn't have a bass boat but gets out on SML weekly in his kayak. He has been catching more smallies than largemouth. Is that normal? biggest so far is 4.5lbs. FYI we are from Minnesota so not much experience down there.
