Removed seats
I had to remove the seats in my 2008 170VX last night to access the fuel tank. Kind of surprised at what I found! After pulling the center of the backrests out to access the screws that hold the seats in I found that one screw in each seat had broken through the plastic seat "pan". The big washers busted out a fairly large piece on each side. Then once I had access to the fuel cell the screws that hold the tank in the boat had large metal fender washers that then went through large plastic discs that actually contacted the fuel cell and held it down. Both of the large plastic discs were busted into pieces and had barely enough contact to keep the tank secure. Obviously I'll be adding bigger fender washers to the seat backs to cover the cracks and will fab up some new plastic disc from ABS sheet material to keep the tank secure. The other odd thing was that there was about a 6" fish finder cable just laying beside the tank in the hull. It was never used and must have just been dropped in the hull when the boat was being assembled. Looked like a Lowrance part and there has never been a Lowrance unit on this boat!
