    Koonta Killa

While ya'll were sippin suds, , or nappin last night I went out calling. It had been 2 years since I had the killin tower set up in the truck. Just way too long. Did a little bit of thumpin with the 6BR out at Vincent . It sure was fun seeing those red eyes come running in to my calls. I never have called in a coon before on this ranch. Not only one but two plus a yote. Not a bad night .

That's a cool looking rig Bob. Did you build it yourself?

    I like the pink gun.

I was kinda thinking that they didn't need to be called, they had come out on their own to take a look at that thar purdy gun. Probably thought it was someone from PETA and posed them no harm.

    Re: Koonta Killa (bgibson53)

well i guess thats impressive, ill be the only one that says big deal. I hunt, i fish, i shoot deer, birds etc. but i also eat what i shoot/fish. i dont ever use all my stamps during season and i dont kill for the hell of it. i know most people dont care, but i do have a problem with useless killing of animals because someone is board sitting around drinking beer and has a firearm laying around. so way to go there on your trophies im sure your proud of yourself !

on a serious note though, be careful out on the lakes this year and have a happy new year

Skip those two coons were real pigs. I normally bust yotes and cats on this ranch. Thought the 1st coon was a cat sneaking through the weeds.
Sorry Jeremy for your lack of interest. Some of us love predator hunting.

There are reasons for keeping the predator numbers down, when you have the problems that we have with them in west Texas you would understand. I don't guess you would be happy if I told you we have to kill 117 does in the next month.

Using my Suburban has proven to be pretty proficient as well.

    Re: Koonta Killa (Rangerman225)

Kill em all Bob. I kill every coon I can find on the ranch. I usually total about 25 a year. Them are some protein stealing little bastards. I had yotes here in my yard last night, we are going to have to get together and rectify that problem here. Pigs, Coons, Yotes,,,We kill them here on the ranch and let em lay. Well, we haul them to the bone pile.

Jeremy, I hope you were kidding on your remarks, if you were then . If you were not, then you don't have a clue.

    Re: Koonta Killa (Skip)

Skipper, it would be better if you waited till the colder months. The hair on them is not near as pretty if you shoot them during warm months. It all depends on if you are ging to mount it.

Skip next winter holler at me and we'll get Martha a Kitty. I've taken some of my prettiest cats on this ranch. We quit calling end of March

John I built the rig back in 02. Been upgrading it ever since. I'll be back in Abilene in two weeks. Maybe we can get out.
