    Shifting Issues

Serial 2B362821. Been having random issues with the motor being able to shift into gear. Couple of weeks ago it wouldn’t shift into forward or reverse. Pulled the cable off the mechanism under the cowling and it would work freely both ways. Moved the shift slider back and forth and then reattached the cable and it shifted fine for a while. Today it happened again I noticed it was hard to shift out of gear then couldn’t shift into reverse and forward was tight. Pulled the cable again and it’s back to shifting. Is there anything that I should be looking at? I tried an SSR hub a while back but had problems shifting out of gear so I’m back to the racing hub.

using regular sae 90 gear lube. The prop hub I’m using is the racing hub after the SSR hub didn’t work well

Your problem was worse with the SSR hub?

It wouldn’t come out of gear a lot of times with the SSR hub. Opposite problem of what I’m experiencing now

Had this happen to me a couple times again over the weekend. Was able to get it to shift by jiggling the shift control between forward and reverse with the button on the shifter pressed down. It doesn’t do it consistently but it usually gets harder to shift before it won’t shift at all. It shifts freely when the shift cable is detached from under the cowling.

I will monitor the rpms when I have the issues. I have not paid close attention but the few times I have looked it’s usually around 550-580 when it returns to idle.
