Hi All, I'm considering buying a 2000 19' Champion with a 2000 150 ficht Evinrude on it. I've read some horror stories about these motors. The hour meter shows just under 80 hours. When I asked the dealer about the motor, he basically responded they were great motors and he didn't think this one had any issues. My initial reaction was that it's 9 years old and should have all the issues worked out by now. Any chance that is true? Would you buy a boat today with a 2000 150 ficht Evinrude on it?
What is the price on the boat? I got a 99 19' javelin with a 175 ficht with a new power head and all updates for $ 5700 with receats.
i think the ones still going today will be fine if takin care of.

Regardless of the make or model of the motor, there are no guarantees with a nine year old motor. Have them run a compression check, check the computer for codes, check the lower unit oil for shavings etc. If you can get the model and serial number, some of the mods here may be able to research the history of the motor. You can always use the motor as a negotiation tool. Those hours are extremely low for a 10 year old motor!

Thanks guys. They are asking $13,450 for the 2000 Champion. Been stored inside and looks brand new. I'll get the Model number and serial on the motor on Tuesday. Thanks for some things to check out.
