Well a couple weeks ago fishing a two day tournament we pulled the cover off Saturday morning and were greated by a gasoline smell. I wasn't sure if it was due to how the boat was parked or not so we fished out the day. Neither of us smoke! Got the boat home and because it was midnight, left the cover on and parked in the driveway. Mid afternoon Sunday I put it in the garage still smelling gas.
Monday rolls around and it is still there. I turned on a fan and blew out the garage. Following some info from here I pulled the seats and proceeded to remove the cover over the tank behind the seats. (By the way, there were 8 screws, not 4!!) About the only thing I saw there was a hole in the vent line created by one of the screws in the plate that says do not drill here! The vent line was between the tank and panel, no biggee, and no gas smell there.
I put in a call to bird land and talked with Jason. He asked if I had noticed any fuel smell from the net storage. To be honest I never stick my face down there! I climbed in and pulled the net out and well, it was saturated with gas!!! Oh goody. Jason immediately told me they would replace the tank. We determined what dealer would do the work, phone calls were made and off I went to drop off the boat.
Long story short, the tank made it to the dealer and they had the boat ready by late Friday. I was unable to get there, so picked it up on this past Monday, all good!!
And Jason sent me a new net to replace the other one!
First class service all around. Thanks Phoenix.
