Are there a time frame,to open them .
And check for wear or damage.
Say on the V6 motors and less say when the hours are there.
Beside just changing the oil.
Was just wondering what people do to be more pro acted.

As long as you're not getting glitter or a milkshake when you drop the oil I wouldn't worry about it. Probably wouldn't hurt to replace the seals every so many years though since water in the oil will for sure lead to glitter in the oil.
2023 Xpress H18 with 115 SHO that's optioned to fit my wants and pulled by a little Ram.
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Just smile and walk away.
Change gear every 30 hours, if water intrusion have it resealed. immediately, may last 2000 plus hours.
Thank You Leon Pugh
To be proactive I like to change my water pump every couple years as well. It’s easy and cheap enough to do (if you’re the handy type). That also gives you a good look at the seals.

Odds are the LU will long outlast the motor it's bolted on.
Provided there maintained, shifted properly and don't get fishing line in the rear seal most are extremely dependable.
Change the oil twice a year. Impeller every couple years. All I’ve done with mine 16 years
Looking for opinions on these hydrofoil stabilizers you mount on the lower unit above the prop.
I had a 88 Javelin with a GT150 "no Jack plate" but already had a hydrofoil on it when I bought it. It would run 67 with just me in it and had a good hole shot.
I'm thinking it might help with hole shot and a bit with speed but I wonder if it puts any excessive stress on the lower unit?
Thank You Leon Pugh
