    Re: Wichita Falls area (RobShaw1)

Rob any place in Texas is great....well almost.

That area is probably not the most scenic area but it beats Midland in that category.

The good thing is its close to OK. You could actually be a Sooner fan and not get too much ridicule.

As far as fishing goes its probably not a hot spot for bass but some of the other guys can give you a better idea than I.

Are you in the Air Force?

Only bad thing I can think of is its smack dab in the middle of tornado alley.

    Re: Wichita Falls area (RobShaw1)

We're looking for a waterfront area in close proximity to a military installation (with medical/commissary/etc). My wife retired from the Navy in 1999 and I will retire in 2-3 years. Texas is on the list mainly in part because they dont tax military retirement pay! And I like the share a lunker program

You might look into property on the Highland Lakes, they are within an hour drive of Ft. Hood. There are two lakes close to Ft. Hood; however, boat houses aren't allowed as these are COE lakes.

+2 on San Angelo, The scenery is not as pretty as the Highland Lakes but I bet the real estate and taxes aren`t as high either.
