Live well hose leaking into boat.

Hello guys. I’ve got a 23’ Z20 and the starboard live well is leaking into the boat. Trying to think what it could be? The flow write valve below the throttle doesn’t seam to close very tight is one thing?? The way I found out was I filled the live well up with a hose and watched the water slowly drip out of the hull plug hole.. I ran the Recirculator and it didn’t seem like that made it and worse. I guess I’m ask what do you guys think? And how should I go about fixing?

A cork or plug can rule out the valve easily. Plug the hole in the live well and fill it up with the hose....does it still leak?

That’s a good idea. I’ll try that! That’s probably the first thing I need to try is it.

It is leaking into the boat. I’m going to guess it’s leaking 1/2 gallon in about 10hr.

I found two things on my 2021 Z19. I found loose screw hose clamps on both fill pumps. And, one pump was leaking around the cartridge. First I tried greasing the cartridge O-ring and that did not solve it. Finally I found a post on the Internet, don't recall where, that suggested wrapping the base of the cartridge where the O-ring is with a couple layers of teflon tape. That solved it and my bilge has been dry for 3+ years. The cartridges are easy to remove from the pumps.

Thanks guys I’m going to look into it this week. I’m sure it’s nothing to serious. But probably more trouble getting to the problem then anything.

Ok, so I found a plug for my live well. I put it in and then put some water it. The drain plug (for the boat) is out and there’s no water leaking.. I’ll need to take 2 batteries out this week and see it I can find watches good on.

Sorry about that last reply, the last few words didn’t make any sense. It was early morning and my eyes didn’t work yet is what I’ll say…… So I found the problem last night. On the underside of the live well the hose clamp needed tightened up was all. So not a bad fix.

That little hose clamp was all it took to stress you out for the last week or so.
Love it when that happens! NOT!

Lol that’s true. But I wasn’t really to worried about it. But just getting to that stuff is the pain I was worried about more.

did not sound like he was stressed out, but if things like this do stress you our your time as a boat owner is limited.

That’s very true Bryan! I’ve been around boats for 21 years and man I think back to all the issues over those years (most of them ski-boats and tubing ones over that time) and I can think of lots of issues… But those boats have gave me and my family so many great memories!! That’s what it’s about!! Memories!

Thanks for all the help. I enjoy the BBC team.

Is the water in the boat when the livewells are dry or when you have water in them? I know water flows over the livewells and under the floor, in that seam

It was only when there was water in the starboard live well, the problem was the hose clamp needed tightened up that on the bottom of the well. That hose is the drain hose. All it was doing when it had water in it was slow drip..
