2200 sq ft. Brick 6 yr old home, 2ac. 40x50 metal shop lots of concrete as well. My wife just upgraded the ceiling in our living room with a sky light that looks into the attic as well, that should knock off a couple hundred dollars....

I know I'm not in Texas (anymore), but I find it hard to except the Texas property taxes.
I have a 3000ft brick with 2 car garage, with a 30 x 30 brick workshop (man cave) in the back yard with a single garage door, on an acre of land, fully fenced with 6' privacy wood fence. My property tax just went up this year to............................................$109 .00 per year.

I might leave this area before I retire, but I have been looking for a place on T-Bend, on the east side of the lake. Even the resort property taxes here are low in comparison.

But, in the end, if money was not an obsticle, I would be back in Texas on Lake Fork, or Big Sam

Interesting, glad I'm gonna lose this race
I gripe and hate payin em every year, but the only saving grace for me is, my total value has more than doubled since we bought the land and built the house over 20 yrs ago.

NOw I have a related question, how many of you guys have kids in the school district?????

Thats becouse in Costa Rica I pay 1200 monthly for the private school, and here I have 3 kids in the school and don't pay anything (well something like that) and here in Belton ISD the schools are like private, nice instalations and the teachers are good.
So when I pay my taxes I really don't think i waste money, I invest in the school of my kids, just my opinion.......
