Need Vacation Advise (San Antoinio Area)

Thinking about going to Garner State Park for a few days. Does anyone know what the river condition is? Is their any other places in that area that would be better to stay? We will have my camper with two girls ages 8 and 10. Any ideas?

    Thanks

I would think the river is pretty low. another place to check out might be Lost Maples State Park.

River is extremely low. We were there in early June and it was too low to float, and has gotten lowere since. Here's a link to the streamflow data.
    Garner USGS Streamflow

Even if the water is low, you can still find places to sit in moving water, and it's still cool, just not as cold as normal. If you have a camper, Garner is a nice place to stay. They have cabins, but no AC in them. You might not be able to get into Garner at this point, as we always get our reservations a year in advance. We already have them for next July. Above Garner, there is Happy Hollow which has camper sites. Happy Hollow
There is an Parkview RV park across the river from the park. Parkview
These are the 2 closest places if you want to take the girls to the Garner dance at night.

There are several places south of Garner, like Mager's Camp, 7 Bluffs Resort, and Neil's Camp in Concan. I think they just have cabins, not camper sites.

We've been going to Garner every summer for the last 25 years and even when the water is low, we still have a good time.

You got a point there, Troy ... may be that on top of the frustration that I'm having a 4-day week for once

Dude, I write a lengthy epistle, look up and post 3 links for him, trying to help out one of your Abilene boys, and you're gonna bust my chops over 1 small typo? Guess I should have been spending my time working, but I'm trying to ease into this whole 5 day work week thing. I don't want to accomplish a whole lot this week, or the boss will come to expect it.

Was there last week 8-6-09 the river is low could be called a creek at present. You can find a spot to swim here and there but no tubing down the river.

We decided on the Llano River. We are going to a place called Morgan Shady Park. The lady that runs the place made it sound pretty good. She said they have plenty of water. Thanks for all the replies. Johnny I'm sorry about your bashing from Reggie and the crew. I personally thought your post was very helpful.

Yeah, now you want a truce. I always ask for a truce too after I've blindsided somebody.
