I know the lower unit will go right up, but are the studs that hold it on the same length for a sporty as a torquemaster? A buddy found out the hard was that they're not on the older 300xs's........

Cavitation plate on 4 stroke sportmaster is about 1/2 inch thick. I would think longer studs would be needed.
