Looking for a place to stay at Fork

This will be our 16th or 17th consecutive year going down to Lake Fork. The first 5 years or so we used to stay up at Coffee Creek. The last 10 + years we've been staying at Lake Fork Resort.
Last year was the final straw for Lake Fork Resort. I will never stay with those people again. If you really want to know about their crappy service then you can send me an email but I don't want to post it. (big10poundfish@yahoo.com)

We are now looking for a new place to stay. We would like to find a place where we can pitch a tent down by the water. A couple of the guys like to get hotel rooms but most of us like the camping aspect of the trip. We don't want to have to trailer our boats during our week long visit if we don't have to. We also like to drink our (hence the no trailering remark) and have some good camp fires. I believe there will be about 10 of us this year.

It's been a long time since we've had to look for a place to stay so if you guys can point me in a direction I sure would appreciate it.

I tried Axtons before but the camping facilities are kinda cramped.

    Have a good day.

    Three words, Lake Fork Marina.................

Nice folks, restaurant, motel, tent pads, RV hooks, boat slips, Outdoor pavillion and Pro Shop all right there together with three other restaurants very close by. Not to mention close to GREAT fishing

    Check them out at

I called them before but they don't allow tent camping. We can all easily afford motel rooms but there's something about camping and fishing all week that keeps us coming back.

We've spent plenty of money at that restaurant before. I know the place you are talking about

    Thanks! Keep the ideas coming!

    My Mistake Bobby!
I just called them again to check my memory and they do have tent camping. I think I just found a new place to stay.
    Thanks for the info

I talked to a real nice gentlemen on the phone at Lake Fork Marina. He was eager to sign us up for a stay. That's one thing I was missing from Lake Fork Resort. They could care less if you spent your money there. And in 10+ years (and 3 changes in ownership) I'm sure we've dropped plenty of cash in their establishment.
    Thanks again for the tip.

    Lake Fork Marina

Side note: You can get a DWI in a boat too. Be careful and be safe!

AMEN to Lake Fork Marina, I have seen people in tents too. In fact there was one tent very close to the covered pavillion. There's a b-b-q pit too. The people are all very nice and willing to do what it takes to make you comfortable. And the restaurant!!! Wow! Great breakfasts, good food all day and you HAVE to sample the pie!

You'll love it there. I love fishing, but the woman side of me wants a little TLC from where we stay -- they have it. Have a great trip.

Did you ever stop to think....and forget to start again?

I forgot My, Oh my, the Pie

Literally drop your trolling motor and fish the timber in the cove and out front of the marina

Re: Looking for a place to stay at Fork (fishergal)

Haven't heard a bad comment from anyone on Lake Fork Marina. I've pitched the idea to my buddies and told them we have to make a decision by the weekend.

This trip started out as a college spring break getaway and has now been labeled a "Tradition" after 17 years! I only get to see some of these guys once a year. We have one guy that flies into St Louis from BOSTON to make the trip.

    Thanks for all the input.

Re: Looking for a place to stay at Fork (Bobs21X)

I haven't said anything to them.

We also have a traveling trophy. Every year the guy who catches the biggest fish will get to take the trophy home and have it engraved with their name and weight of fish. They have to bring it back the following year and present it to the winner.

Last year we had some fishing shirts made. On the shirts we have a logo of the State of Texas . Wrapped around the State is a Slogan that says "Annual Texas Fishing Classic". Then right below that, each guy has the year (or years) they won the trophy. Pretty cool stuff.

On the ride home every year we like to start throwing out dates for the next trip. Our best year for participation was 20+ guys.
