    1999 Johnson 115 Stalling.

    1999 Johnson 115hp
    J115PLEEM
    V4 60 degree Eagle-Optical Ignition (OIS 2000)

    (Engine starts fine cold, runs fine for a few minutes, then starts cutting in and out.

    Stop engine, won't restart, no fire on all plugs.

    Wait 15 minutes, restarts and runs for 5 minutes cutting in and out then kills. Won't restart.

    Wait 15 minutes, restarts and runs for 2 minutes then kills.
    Problems began 20 minutes after overheat alarm came on while running through some hydrilla.

    Next day restarts fine on muffs at home, same process would occur if I take it to the lake.)

    Had the same problem last year, changed the power-pack 7 months ago and problem was solved. Any ideas on what to check before forking out another$295 for a new power.pack

    Did you replace the EET the same time you did the PP? Did you test your stator output?

    Do I need a DVA adapter to read this correctly?
    My multi meter reads 6V AC from the stator from the two main yellow leads, but my multi-meter is acting up so accuracy may be a problem. Possible bad charge coil on the stator?

    Is it AC from the stator, and DC from the regulator rectifier? I'm getting 12.2 to 14 volts on the battery when the engine is running.

    This optical ignition is puzzling to me as this is my first OMC engine. Is the Optical Eye the Black ring under the timing wheel, that the power pack plugs into?
