    xd-50 + cold weather

I have been running XD-50 through my 2000 Johnson 225 HO but I am a little worried about the really cold weather this week. Couple years ago I tried to take off when it was 17 deg. and the oil alarm went off. I believe the oil "gelled" up. Not good. Anyone have a suggestion on an additive or something to keep it from doing this? If I have to switch oil's do I need to completely drain the oil reservoir or can you mix two different oils? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Just add XD-100, no draining, the XD-50 gets thick in cold weather and makes it hard for the oil side of your pump to pick it up, that's what caused your no oil alarm to come on before.

You need to get to about half a tank and add the XD-100.

That is what I wanted to hear. Thanks I have about a half tank of xd-50 in there now. I will go pick up some xd-100 and top it off. Now if someone could just come out with an engine block heater for us carb folks. She isn't going to like cranking in 17 deg.

can you intermix the two all the time??? because would be cheaper but also be able to get the great clean components of the 100

Yes, I would run the 100 in the winter( especially for the fichtsand di) then run a tank of 50 then 100 etc. I would still decarb once a year if you aren't running the 100 full time.JMHO

I have heard of guys using electric blankets, car engine oil dipstick heaters, and a ton of other ideas to keep the oil tank warm.....a heated garage would be my choice.

There is no global warming period, unless you believe that man is so omnipotent that he can not only raise the global temperature on earth, but other planets that aren't occupied as well.

It is a bill of goods being forced upon us to allow people to gain power. Carbon is the basic building block of everything. Controlling it means you control everything.

XD100 is the way to go, my motor loves it.

I like to use a big word every once in a while.

It is no joke either. That stuff will flat make your engine run better. I am trying to get Jay Smith to try it in one of his Merc's once he gets one broken in.

Even my weedeater and backpack blower run better. My Husky edger screams with it in there. Can't wait to get the chainsaw cranked up with some in it.
