I have a 2006 225 HO Etec (E225DHLSD, Vin# 05124128). I was going fishing the other day, so I charged my batteries all night, and the charger indicated everything was charged when I unplugged it. When I got to the boat ramp, the motor would barely turn over, like it was was under high compression, or as if the battery was low. I hooked jumper cables up from the trolling motor batteries and jumped across, switched out batteries, and even took the battery out of my truck and put it as the starting battery, yet it continued to barely turn over. I went back home, and later that evening I walked by the boat after I let it charge all day, hit the start button, and it kicked right over. I then hooked the water ears up on the motor, it started right up, so I let it run for awhile. The following weekend I took it out to my local lake to run it. Before I left the house, I hit the start button to see if it would turn over, and it did. When I got the boat in the water, it kicked right over for a brief second but didn't start, and then it went right back to barely turning over. I've tightened every connection on the batteries, and the chargers. Nothing was loose.
There are 4 lights on the back of the motor under the cowling. The top one has Charge Ok, the next one has Crank Position Ok, the third has Sensors Ok, the bottom light has Lanyard/Stop Ok. When I power everything up, all the light excpet the Crank Position Ok sensor is lit up. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
I have been having a mouse problem in my shop where I keep my boat. I keep corn in my shop to feed the deer, and the day I went to the lake, I found a bunch of corn in my rod lockers. I have a feeling that maybe the mice have chewed a wire somewhere, and it is shorting out. I hoping this is not the case, but it's always a possibility.
Has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone have any suggestions that I can try before I have to take it to the dealer? I appreciate everyone's response, thanks.
