I finally got a motor for the 14' Alumacraft, and took it to Palo Pinto this morning. We caught a smorgasboard of fish, crappie, gar, 3 drum, perch, 5# channel cat, sand bass, and 25+ bass. Most fish were caught on crankbaits and brush hogs. We had a blast. Lake is 5 or 6 ft. low.
Last time I was there was to pre fish a club tourney with rangerguy in his boat. We tried to launch over north of the power plant and got the boat scooted back on the trailer about a foot trying to launch. Couldn't get it any further off and couldn't get it back on.So we eased her out of the water and drove to Leon on the way home and put it back up on the trailer there! That was a multi
trip!!
Me and Bonnie did the same thing one day. now that the water is low enought i know why. there is a rock pile at the end of the ramp. backed the nitro into it one morning when unloading. i will use my jon boat untill the lake comes back up. If you go after the lake comes up use the side of the ramp towards the power plant.
We have found lots of rock piles we never knew were there until the lake went down. Some i have run across when the lake was up. But them rock piles are holding fish.
My dad lives maybe 10 miles south of the lake and said they got 3" of rain last week, but everything is so dry they didn't get any runoff. His stock tanks didn't even catch any water.
