Choke Canyon Reservior?

Hey yall, good morning. Does anybody have any experience at Choke Canyon? My girlfriend's brother and sis-in-law fishes there alot, and loves it. They do alot of panfish and catfish fishing. Its only 90 minutes south of San Antonio, and I'm thinking about going down there one of these weekends with my girlfriend and her family, and I'm wondering if the bass fishing is any good...? If so, what colors/techniques tend to work well there this time of year?

And I've read that its a pretty big lake. How are the water conditions usually? Will my 14' jon boat and 15 horse Merc be OK, or will I get beat around by the wake? I'd prefer to take my boat rather than rent something down there (assuming that someone rents boats down there).

Some of the best fishing in the state! Watermelon Red is a good color over and around the grass. Right now the fish are up on beds.

You could launch at Calliham Park and have access to plenty of good water in your boat, just don't venture out to the main lake or you get in trouble real quick if the wind picks up. Don't know of any bass boat rentals in the area...
