    Helix 10 side imaging

I have 2 helix 10s , one works great . The other ( attached to trolling motor ) doesn’t give a side image ? 2d and down work ? I e checked the settings against the good one but I’m new to humingbird . Any ideas is there 2 transducers in the ultex ? If so how do I check them ?
    thanks

Are both units Side Imaging units and what generation are they?

An Ultrex can have one of three transducer types:
US2== a round disk in the nose of the motor. 2D sonar only.
MDI==an elongated transducer on the bottom of the motor and extends to about where the shaft is. 2D and Down Imaging.
MSI==an elongated transducer on the bottom of the motor that extends almost to the prop. 2D, Down Imaging, and Side Imaging.

    This is the Minnkota MDI:

It has the mega si transducer attached , I assume the front would have side imaging ? I checked in the menu and it was turned on

The Connected Transducer setting for the Minnkota MSI transducer is Built-in HW+ MSI or Built-in HW: MSI+

You must have the Minnkota MKR-MI-1 adapter to connect the Minnkota MSI transducer. The MKR-MDI-1 does not work for SI.

Ok I pulled the box out , the units are helix 10 G4’s ? The box says the units have down and side imaging . supposedly a one boat network . Alright Wayne - the unit that is at the helm has both down and side . Am I missing a cable / another transducer for the front to have side imaging ? This is the first boat with hummingbird . I really appreciate your time

LOOK at the back of the units, there is a bar-code/serial number sticker that has the model name. See if both are really MSI+ GPS G4N.
The complete model name is displayed in the SYSTEM STATUS view and is what you match with unit software to do an update when wanted. Has to match exactly. The complete model name for the SI model is Helix 10 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N
IF they are, and the trolling motor has the MSI transducer built-in and you don't have Side Imaging, you have the wrong adapter that does not have circuits for Side Imaging.

This is the Minnkota built-in MSI transducer:

, I’m thinking the dealer didn’t know that . Can I use / link the side imaging from the rear unit?

Yes, that is what the Network Source menu does===choose which unit to provide the data for each function.

Wayne what DI frequency would be best for down imaging ? The dealer set mine on 455 kHz chirp ? The side imaging is set to mega chirp .
    thanks again kenny

Some like to use 455 kHz for DI and SI to see fish better (makes a more blurry/larger image). Some like to use different frequencies for DI and SI with 455 kHz for either one. You just have to try it to see what your preference is.
I use the MEGA frequency for both, but DI is my most unused technology since SI shows the exact same thing as DI, just more of it.
