    2005 150vmax

    My father in law is looking at a Skeeter boat with a 2005 Yamaha 150 vmax. We were wondering if this an efi motor. What was the last year Yamaha made carbureted motors? Sorry for the poor picture this is the only pic of the motor I have.

    Thank you for your help

    VMAX is not a model identity.

    There are carburetted VMAX models, OX66 EFI VMAX models, HPDI VMAX models and four stroke EFI VMAX models.

    There is a decal on the side of the motor. It will give you the model type.

    V150 = carburetors
    VX150 = OX66 EFI
    VZ150 = HPDI
    VF150 = four stroke

    Then it would be a V150TLRD model.

    Last year for a V150TLR was 2008.

    Yes, that motor is carbed. You can see them under the air intake.

    My HPDI's throttle bodies look just like this, and it is direct injected.

    Your throttle bodies, six of them in one unit, are stacked vertically.

    The OP's motor has three pairs of carburetors.

    Air inlets are different.

    No reason to be afraid of the carbed 150. I have a 2008 and like it just fine. They have a very good reputation, except for being a little thirsty.

    I have a 2003 VMax150TLRB and it's very reliable. The main issue is cold starts. Once I figured out the right sequence I have no complains or concerns.
    Search cold start procedure to see all the help and info I received from guys here on the BBC
