Power Head Drain Plug SHO 225

    Hey Guys,
I purchased a 2020 skeeter zx225 from a buddy of mine and was doing my first oil change last night and everything went well. I drained the power head oil through the lower cowl drain plug but one thing I missed was replacing the drain plug gasket/washer (doh!). Sounds like the old washer should not be used. I am assuming I need to remove the lower cowl again, pull the plug and quickly replace the washer and add back any oil i lose. How fast will the oil come out if i leave the rest of the system closed off?

I have no idea how fast the oil will drain out. Oil system is ultimately vented to atmosphere.

Might help to tilt the motor fully up and then turn it in the direction that orients the drain plug on the top. Good luck.

But better than luck is to get you a vacuum extraction pump. So that you no longer have to mess with removing a side panel and the drain plug. No chance of forgetting the gasket or of stripping the drain plug threads.

Now with a new and unused extraction pump you might just as well pump the oil out of the motor now. Fix the drain plug. Then put the oil back into the motor.

Pull it, stick your finger over the hole, and fix it. Will lose minimum, probably not even enough to have to top it off.
