Hendersonville, Goodlettsville, Brentwood, Mount Juliet, Gallatin, Franklin, Lebanon. All these areas are safe and within a reasonable distance from Nashville. I commute from Gallatin each morning and depending upon the time I leave it usually takes about 40 minutes to make the 25 mile drive. Traffic is just something you have to deal with.
If he chooses Lebanon, Mount Juliet, Gallatin, or Hendersonville then he will be reasonably lose to 2 lakes and right on top of one; Old Hickory and Percy Priest.
Traffic south of town from Brentwood and Franklin looks to be a bear every morning. So he may want to take that into account.

+2.... I am between Hendersonville and Gallatin. 25 minutes from my house to downtown. 4 boat ramps within 6 minutes of my driveway on Old Hickory. Priest is 30 minutes, Center Hill is 60 minutes, Woods and Normandy are 90 minutes, Tims Ford is 2 hours. This is like heaven!!
Brentwood traffic is no worse than the Hendersonville, Goodlettsville area. 24 inbound from the Smyrna / Lavergne area is a nightmare. I've lived in Brentwood for 15years and love it but the sticker shock on homes is hard for some to swallow. Hard for some to deal with 100k+ for an acre of land.
Boatless Bank Trash for now
If he is going to work in the downtown, Opry Mills area throw Clarksville into the mix. I live right off exit 11 and can be downtown, at the airport, etc... in about 40-45 mins. The traffic is non existant compared to Brentwood, Gallatin etc... I lived in Gallatin and drove to Brentwood for work for years. I don't miss that traffic.
If he is going to work in Murfreesboro then he should look in that area or Lebanon, come tot hink of it using 840 he can look over in the Brentwood area but just getting out of Brentwood can take 20 mins depending on where you are.
About half my neighbors work in Nashville, the other half are military and like me make the 25-35 min drive to Ft. Campbell.
I hate to leave this area to go back to KY but in this job market we cannot turn down the promotion offered to the Mrs. There are several houses for sale in my area including mine. This area (Sango) is faring a little better than the Nashville area due to Hemlock coming to town and the base being pumped up but it's still much cheaper than Nashville. Drop me a line if I can help my way.![]()
Does he have kids going to public school? If so there are a few schools I would avoid. That would be my deciding factor and not the traffic. FYI, your close to a bunch of lakes anywhere you decide to live around Nashville.

Two thumbs up on this one!!! TN school zones can be real wacky. Williamson County is known to be fantastic. I live in the only really high rated school zone in Clarksville, that's one reason the houses in this area cost more. There are good and not so good zones all around Nashville and you can literally move a few blocks and impact your zone. Example, when I lived in Gallatin they built brand new schools, new teachers, new and best of everything. Everyone wanted to be in that school zone. Plantation is one of he most expensive communities in the Nashville areas and it is in that school zone. My little neighborhood was the cutoff for that zone when it opened.
