Estimate on rebuilding V6 carbs - Johnson outboard

Guys, I've never had the carbs on my '87 Johnson GT150 messed with, let alone rebuilt. I've not used my boat much at all but now I'm living on the lake 100% of the time and want to get the boat ready to fish more. I'm thinking it might be wise to have my carbs rebuilt, do you think that is overkill? I pulled it out of the water to change the lower unit oil and change out my fuel lines, it starts up fine and on the hose it runs good. Should I not worry about doing anything to the carbs and see how it runs? I kept Stabil in the fuel. If I should have the carbs rebuilt, I doubt if I want to mess with trying to do that myself. Any idea what a competent boat mechanic would charge to rebuild them? Thanks!

If it ran good before you shut down and if you've kept the fuel stabilized you should be OK. Toss about 10 gallons of 91 octane in it and run it for a while with Stabil marine or Startron enzyme formula in it. The cross flows are pretty tolerant of minor fuel issues but not ignition problems.
